This historical hotel is set in a building dating back to the 16th century, which has had a range of uses over the years. Originally built as a palace that belonged to the Maldonado de Chaves family, the building was turned into the headquarters for the city's military government during the Peninsular War. It was then converted into the Royal Carabineers headquarters and then became a home for nuns. The hotel which today occupies the building comprises a total of 30 guest rooms and suites and is fully air-conditioned. Guests are welcomed into a lobby with 24-hour reception and check-out service, hotel safe and cloakroom. On-site facilities include lift access, a games room, a TV lounge, and dining options such as a café and restaurant. Evaluation: Hotel Palacio De Maldonado

La estancia ha sido estupenda. Especial mencion al exquisito trato que hemos recibido del personal tanto en recepcion como en el desayuno. Un detalle muy positivo ha sido que han hecho caso a la peticion que hice en las observaciones de cama de matrimonio. La ducha tenia cortina en vez de manpara, pero supongo que eso es cuestión de gustos personales. El desayuno inmejorable: el cafe es cafe no de máquina, habia sobres individuales de colacao y nesquik todo un detalle y una gran variedad de comida para elegir. Muy cuidada la decoracion de todo el conjunto del hotel.
