It is an artistic and historic monument in Catholics King style. It was the Dominico Monastery of Nuestra Señora de la Piedad which was founded in 1509 by the bishop of Calahorra. The Hospederia is now part of the old schools of San Nicolás and Nuestra Señora de la Piedad.

This rural hotel is a real work of art because of its wide area and its graceful architecture. Thus it has been called "el Aranjuez de la Rioja".
