General information and How to arrive Hotel Botanico

This prestigious traditional hotel is situated in a somewhat elevated location in the quiet villa quarter of La Paz, close to the botanical gardens. The centre of Puerto de la Cruz, the beach and the seawater swimming pools are about 1.5 km away. A shuttle bus service runs several times a day on weekdays and Saturday morning. Countless shops, bars, pubs and restaurants are located in the immediate vicinity. The nearest public transport links are roughly 50 m away. A casino is to be found in the town centre. This is one of the best and most renowned hotels in the Canary Islands and is a great location for a quiet rendezvous thanks to its elegant ambience.

The hotel features 3 heated pools; 2 of them in The Oriental Spa Garden, one of which is an indoor pool. There is a children's paddling area, a pool restaurant and sun terrace whith deck chairs, towels and parasols. Moreover, a whirlpool, Japanese sauna, steam bath, laconium, aromatherapy room, ice igloo and professional massage service as well as a health spa are available in the 3,500 m² Oriental Spa Garden (until 30th April 2010: free daily entrance for guests over 16 years). In addition, guests may choose to enjoy such leisure options as the fitness facilities, two floodlit tennis courts, putting green with bunker and driving range, table tennis and billiards. The hotel entertainment programme ensures that guests never experience a dull moment. The summer children's programme Botanico Adventure Academy on offer 7 days a week includes visits to the Loro Parque with animal shows, workshops, diplomas, food and transport (for children between 4 - 12 years).

Evaluation: Hotel Botanico

Se trata de un hotel para pasar unos días de descanso en unas instalaciones muy cuidadas, con un jardín tropical exuberante. El Spa con su estilo oriental, es seguramente el mejor de la isla una acierto que no se permita la entrada a menores. Son especialmente destacables las cenas en los tres restaurantes temáticos a la carta. Es una gran suerte que todavía queden sitios donde no haya que acudir a un buffet. La calidad del servicio y comida son excelentes globalmente. Tomamos un arroz con bogavante en La Parrilla magnífico, no asi resultó una sopa de pescado en El Papagayo, pero la media es muy alta. Hubo algunos aspectos negativos menores pero molestos por su reiteración: el botones trató de dejarnos unas maletas que no eran nuestras. El último día no figurábamos en la lista del desayuno. En el Spa uno de los días figuraba con nuestro número de habitación otra persona, y por último al salir figuraba un cargo del restaurante Papagayo que no nos correspondía. En definitiva un lugar muy recomendable y con una buena relación calidadprecio.
